This page is dedicated to all our hounds who are sadly no longer with us, who we've had the pleasure of sharing our life with and will never be forgotten.
CALLIE
20.08.95 - 29-06.09

Our little whippet girl was always known as Callie to us, though in her early days when she raced she was known as Calypso. Callie was a local girl who came to us in July 2008 after a relationship breakdown. She was a senior of 12 years so it took her a little while to adjust and was quite picky with her food to begin with, but she soon settled gaining comfort from the other dogs and became very fond of meal times and would eat with great gusto. She would then come to visit us during meal times and would give a special Callie woof to let us know she was there and ready to take any offerings!
We soon learnt that Callie was the litter sister of our boy Oscar who we'd had since he was a year old, yet another reason she would stay with us permanently (not that we needed any reasons!). Callie was no bother at all and you only knew she was there when she barked at her Dad for attention. She really was a Daddy's girl and followed him round with such a look of adoration.
Towards the end of her life Callie struggled with her mobility. She chose not to join us for walks and would get up for meal times and toilet time, otherwise she was quite happy snoozing on her furry doughnut bed. Despite the deterioration in her mobility she was 100% clean, such a clever girl.
When the day came that Callie kept falling over and her tiny little body was becoming bruised and she needed my assistance to stand to eat her food and go to the loo we knew that it was time to make that heartbreaking decision. Callie was an independent little lady and we knew this was the last kindness we could offer her. She slipped away in my arms just before 4pm on Monday June 29th.
We're glad we could offer Callie a home and hope she enjoyed her time with us here, albeit far too short.
Rest in peace little Callie Cal Cal. XXX
